Lighthouse Reef Specific Dive Sites
Listed below is a selection of some of the best dive sites on the lighthouse Reef. We have only briefly listed the points of interest.
These are major dive attractions and are known to the diving freternity world wide. A detailed description is outside of the cope of our site.
Hat Caye Drop-Off
Depth: 50 ft (15 meters), Current: Minimal, Visibily: 50 ft (15 meters), Level: , Points of Interest: dramatic wideangle photographic possibilities, Brittle starfish lobsters.
The Playground
Depth: 50 feet (15 m). , Current: none, Visibily: good, Level: novice, Points of Interest: big lobsters, fish life in abundance.
Eagle Ray Wall
Depth: 35 ft (11 meters), Current: minimal, Visibily: 80 ft (24 meters), Level: Intermediate, Points of Interest: Nurse sharks, also good for snorkelers, eagle rays and sponges.
The Aquaium
Depth: 30 ft (9 meters, Current: Strong, Visibily: 80 ft (24 meters), Level: Intermediate, Points of Interest: All kinds of fish.
Tres Cabeza
Depth: 35 feet (11 m), Current: Minimal, Visibily: good, Level: novice, Points of Interest: grouper and lobster.
Turtles are regularly seen here and there is good chance of seeing manta
and large spotted eagle rays.
Tarpon Wall
Depth: 35 feet (11 m), Current: Minimal, Visibily: good, Level: novice, Points of Interest: Lobster, grouper and snapper fill the many tunnels and small
schools of jacks and tarpon.
Manta Wall
Depth: 35 feet (11 m), Current: minimal, Visibily: good, Level: novice, Points of Interest: manta rays which are often seen leaping out of
the water.
Long Caye ridge
Depth: 40 ft (12 meters), Current: Minimal, Visibily: 80 ft
(24 meters), Level: Novice, Points of Interest: Threespot and dusky damselfish will charge
you if you get too close to their algal gardens.
Tres Cocos
Depth: 30 ft (9 meters), Current: Moderate, Visibily: 80 ft (24 meters)<, Level: novice, Points of Interest:
Large spotted moray eels, lion's paw sea cucumbers, several kinds of
urchins, coral shrimp, arrow crabs and sea feathers are just some examples, turtles often visit.
The Corner
Depth: 30 feet (9 m), Current: minimal, Visibily: good, Level: novice, Points of Interest: scenary from above the wall is sensational, hude eagle rays.
West Point
Depth: 25 ft (8 meters, Current: moderate, Visibily: 50 ft (15 meters), Level: novice, Points of Interest: Schools of smooth trunkfish, all four
angelfish (queen, gray, French and rock beauty) and lots of parrotfish
congregate here. Yellowtail snappers appear in great numbers, along with
queen trigger- fish, white spotted filefish, hogfish, barracudas and tiger
groupers.

rare longsnout. A variety of creole wrasses, blennies, gobies and hamlets.
Nurse Shark Lodge

The Zoo

Silver Caves
Depth: 40 ft 12 meters), Current: minimal, Visibily: 80 ft (24 meters), Level: Intermediate, Points of Interest: Excelent for video work.
Cathedral Reef
Depth: 30 ft (9 meters), Current: Minimal, Visibily: 50
ft (15 meters) , Level: Intermediate, Points of Interest: Fish
watchers will take delight with large French angels, stoplight parrots,
trumpets, groupers and schools of yellowtail snappers. The angels and
snappers are particularly easy photographic targets.
fantastic tunnela and passages, turtles, lobsters, eagle rays and huge groupers or jewfish, corals which rise like a small cluster of church spires.
The tallest of these is over 8 feet (2.4 m) tall.
Quebrada
Depth: 40 ft (12 meters), Current: minimal, Visibily: 80 ft (24 meters), Level: novice, Points of Interest: Schools of yellowtail snappers shadow
divers on the reefs. Large black groupers, ocean triggerfish and a host of
others are abundant on the shallow wall and reef crest. Virtually all can
be approached and photographed.
Flat Walls
Depth: 45 to 50 feet (14-15 m), Current: minimal, Visibily: good, Level: novice, Points of Interest: Turtles are frequent visitor,Oceanic whitetip sharks (complete
with their attendant pilotfish), lemon, blacktip and bull sharks,are
likely to be seen. The very largest of manta rays and good specimens of
spotted eagle rays are frequently seen.
Southweat Cut
Depth: 40 ft (12 meters), Current: Minimal, Visibily: 50 ft (15 meters), Level: Intermediate, Points of Interest: Hudge dog fish, Manta rays, eels of all types.
